Students To Crack Coding Curriculum In 2019

Young students will expand their learning to a new frontier in 2019 — as coding is incorporated into more and more classrooms nationwide.
“Learning to code is critical because it gives students the opportunity to be creative in how they learn,” said Chad Mazza, principal at the Winter Hill Community School, where students last year started  using games to incorporate coding into their learning
AT&T invested $125,000 earlier last year in Unruly Studios through its Aspire Program, which aims to bring coding technology to students.
Exposing students to coding can spark their interest in science and technology early on and experts say learning to code has shown improvements in critical thinking and problem solving.
Missouri Gov. Mike Parson last fall signed a bill directing educators to incorporate more computer science, including coding, into that state’s curriculum in the coming year.
And in Indiana, public schools will be required to have computer science in their K-12 curriculum, starting in July 2021, according to the Herald Times.
Experts have also found that teaching coding at younger ages helps encourage more girls to pursue an interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) subjects.
